Abstract
With increasing numbers of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, the focus is on FASD and the impact it has on mothers’, their unborn child, and the consequences that will lead to long-lasting effects. Once women find out that they are expecting, they stop drinking alcohol, but there is still statistic that shows about 8% of women reported that they continue to consume alcohol during their pregnancy. The paper will also include multiple real-life examples of studies that have been conducted on individuals with FASD. With studies focusing on individuals with FASD, it will also include different populations with FASD, and the living experiences of individuals with FASD. Another area of interest to focus on in this paper is not only how FASD affects childhood and adolescence in individuals, but also the lasting impacts on adults based on the physical and whole-body of an individual with FASD. Another area of interest in this topic is how the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) may have an impact on individuals who are pregnant may be influenced to drink while pregnant. Finally, this paper will include individuals with FASD and their interaction with the criminal justice system, learning and education for practitioners working with individuals with FASD, and stigma. There will be mentions of suggestions and limitations in the research conducted.
