Abstract
Within These Walls: The Neighborhoods Created by School Age Professionals is a walk through the neighborhood of school age child care. As traditional neighborhoods begin to fade and lives become more and more scheduled, children have fewer opportunities to experience the joy and freedom of unstructured play, which is so significant and meaningful to healthy development. Today, professionals in the field of school age care can recreate a neighborhood environment in their programs, where children can flourish and revel in the delight that neighborhood play brings to childhood.
