Abstract
This research proposal investigates if there is a correlation between anxiety and sport performance. A group of 12 throwers from Concordia University St. Paul’s track and field team, as well as a survey that explored key aspects of these athletes to determine if they are anxious before a meet. Using the SAS-2 survey and official distances from their outdoor season, we were able to compare the scores from each of these to determine if an athlete’s anxiety affected their performance during a meet. The SAS-2 survey included 21 questions spanning three different subcategories that the athletes filled out the night before each competition. The official results of the preliminary throws from the meet were averaged and used to compare to the score from the most recent SAS-2 score.
