Abstract
Over the course of the last eight weeks, I was enrolled in the professional sport experience with the Minnesota Twins in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We attended class sessions every Monday, where we had the opportunity to connect with guest speakers and ask questions. Throughout the eight weeks, we heard from twenty different staff members and picked their brains about their responsibilities and backgrounds. Outside of class sessions, students had the opportunity to shadow experiences and have special sit-downs with specific departments. These experiences included shadowing guest services, working with security, sitting down with the entire Target Field Events team, helping to guide ballpark tours, and much more. I was optimistic I would be able to make long-lasting connections with different staff members, as well as improve my skills in adaptability, active listening, and self-confidence. As a result of this program, I am still leaning towards a career within the events and hospitality side of sports, as I love the idea of creating long-lasting memories while providing exceptional service. Words cannot describe how thankful I am to have had the opportunity to be a part of this professional sport experience and form lasting connections with many individuals at the Minnesota Twins and Target Field.
