Abstract
This is the 29th interview in a series of 37 interviews with General John W. Vessey. In this interview, Gen. John Vessey discusses the period of 1982 to 1985 in which he served as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Specifically, Gen. Vessey continues to discuss NATO. He also discusses Afghanistan in the 1980s (including the Soviet presence after 1979) and Afghanistan today. He discusses relations with Pakistan. He also discusses working with the CIA.
