Abstract
This paper will investigate the advantages and disadvantages of working within a centralized and decentralized system and then specifically apply the information to appointment systems. A literature review of other practice methods was conducted along with review of historical patterns and trends. Recommendations and styles of other health-care organizations were studied. An internal (extra-departmental) survey was conducted to gather data of other departmental experiences. Observation of current practice systems are also important in determining what information is relevant. All of the above information and data were assimilated and incorporated into a proposal for continuance of the current system or recommendation for change to a different system.
