Abstract
This paper will focus on components and influencing factors of identity development for biracial children whose parents are African American and European American. It will seek to offer greater understanding of the emotional and challenging aspects of identity development for the biracial child that will be useful to early childhood professionals, parents, and other interested professionals working with children. It will attempt to answer the question: How can healthy identity development of biracial children be supported by early childhood professionals?
