Abstract
High quality preschool programs are critical to a child's healthy development in all domains: social, emotional, physical, linguistic, and cognitive. Such programs implement developmentally appropriate practices, oversee appropriate group sizes and teacher-child ratios, and emphasize the importance of play in the early childhood classroom. High quality preschool programs employ highly trained early childhood educators who are educated in child development, early brain research, and appropriate guidance techniques. These programs operate with an acute awareness that the early years of a child's life are the most important and influential; by implementing the components of high quality preschool programs, which are highly related and interconnected, they are assisting children's grow and develop at an optimal level.
