Abstract
This project is a description of the developmental stages of a YMCA SACC program with an assessment tool to help YMCA staff ascertain the developmental stage of their program. The project includes concrete steps for moving from one developmental stage to the next in the pursuit of achieving the YMCA vision for high quality programming. This capstone integrates the NIOST Developmental Stages and the Ollhoff’s Generations to create a YMCA assessment tool based on the Ollhoff’s Sixteen Principles of Quality, the NSACA standards, YMCA Quality Check practices and the research-based definitions of quality. The YMCA of the USA will publish the contents of this project in 2003 as Chapter 13 of the revised YMCA School-Age Child Care Manual.
