Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find suitable outreach activities to share the Christian faith with those English as Second Language (ESL) Chinese not-yet Christian students who are at Light of Christ Chinese Lutheran Mission (LCCLM). Throughout this abstract, English as a second language will be referred to as ESL. Throughout this abstract, the Light of Christ Chinese Lutheran Mission in St. Louis will be referred to as LCCLM.
The researcher approached the problem by raising four sub-questions.
- What is the common background of the Chinese not-yet Christians who attend the ESL program at LCCLM?
- What kinds of outreach activities do Chinese churches that have ESL programs use?
- What kinds of outreach activities for sharing the Christian faith do other Christian leaders who have mission hearts for Chinese have for ESL Chinese not-yet Christian students?
- Based on the research above, what kinds of suitable outreach activities can LCCLM use to share the Christian faith with Chinese not-yet Christian ESL students beyond the ESL program?
This research has discovered suitable outreach activities through ESL students' likes and needs, new converts' personal testimonies, ESL coordinators' experiences, and Christian leaders' suggestions. The researcher used questionnaires and interviews to find and collect insightful data.
