Abstract

Concussions are a common injury that can occur in all levels of sport. A concussion is a mild TBI that can present the athlete with a number of different short or long term symptoms (Art et al., 2023, pg. 26). These concussion symptoms are and should be reported and recorded by coaches, parents and physicians. . These injuries can potentially have long term effects on the athletes brain. The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of concussions not only on the athletes overall health, but their academic and athletics as well. Through this exploration, changes could be made to return to play protocols and prevention equipment used with different sports.
