Abstract
Slipcover[ed] is a creative memoir that explores themes of depression, invisibility, selfharm, recovery, and love. The story follows the author, a college student, who struggles to transition, misplaces her priorities, and spirals into major depression. The plot illustrates the author coming to terms with her depression, beginning antidepressants to manage symptoms, then working through the trauma of suicidal thoughts and behaviors. The subplot shows the author trying to make sense of a new relationship where she lacks the emotional support she desires. The writing process as well as exploration of other works of literature allowed for discovery and healing for the author.
