Abstract
This research explores the role of youth sports in promoting holistic development and the acquisition of lifelong skills. While the benefits of physical activity are widely recognized, this study investigates how participation in organized youth sports contributes to holistic growth, identity formation, and the cultivation of transferable life skills such as discipline, teamwork, and leadership. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, data will be collected from current and former youth athletes through an online survey and personal interviews, aiming to capture both quantitative and qualitative reflections on their sports experiences. Independent variables such as coaching philosophy, access and inclusion, and program design were reviewed to assess their influence on developmental outcomes. The findings reveal a strong correlation between supportive, developmentally focused sports environments and the long-term personal growth of participants. The study highlights the importance of intentional programming and mentorship in youth athletics and provides insights for coaches, educators, and leaders seeking to foster enriching sports experiences that prioritize whole development of the child.
