Abstract
This capstone focuses on ways that early childhood staff can communicate with families and build trusting relationships. The research on this topic indicates the benefits of healthy home-school relationships to children, families, and early childhood programs, as well as challenges that early childhood staff face creating these relationships. ''Numerous studies describe the benefits of active parent involvement in a child's early intervention program. Without it, children tend to regress once the program has ended" (Allen and Schwartz, 2001).
