Abstract
This study will examine current methods used to analyze potential machine tool investments at IBM. Research will be conducted to determine how financial justification policies are used in similar industries and what conditions affect these policies. Surveys will be taken in both the Tool Services and Financial Planning areas in order to provide a "need awareness" to both groups. Using this data, a proposal will be made to change existing procedures, making them more adaptable to a highly productive machining environment. Upon completion of this project, a presentation of its findings will be made to IBM.
