Abstract
The purpose of the project was to research why airmen decide to leave the Air National Guard and identify areas for improvement in the area of retention before completion of the six year enlistment. The goal was to determine what the Retention Office, as the area of primary responsibility, and the 148th Fighter Wing, as the overall organization, could do to increase the retention rate of qualified airmen which would enhance mission capabilities and readiness. Based on research of this project, recommendations were made regarding the best interests of the individuals as well as the current and future interests of the 148th Fighter Wing, assuring their continued success as a leader in the Air National Guard community.
