Abstract

The researcher is an amateur composer and songwriter who was considering a career change into the field of musical theatre and had begun to develop a children's Christmas musical play based on a children's song about the virtues of macaroni. The researcher had written the song several years earlier and recently raised the idea for the show with Twin Cities theatre professional Mike Foreman. Foreman, who is also the researcher's voice teacher, became interested and wrote the script or "book" for the show. The problem was to get the show produced. After trying without success to interest local theatre groups in producing it, the play's authors decided to mount their own production. The scope of this project was the development of the budget for that production.
