Abstract
The purpose of this project was to develop, implement and evaluate a plan to introduce long-distance calling service to University of Minnesota students living in campus dormitories.
Students living in the campus dormitories could not make direct-dial long distance calls from their rooms and instead had to use higher cost options such as calling cards, collect calls or third party billing. At the same time, the Telecommunication Services Department at the University was looking for additional sources of income. A review of the problem revealed that the Telecommunication Services Department could provide a needed service to students and at the same time generated needed revenue for the department.
