Abstract
The expansion of the tourism industry combined with the growth of international travel demands that we adopt proactive measures to address the adverse effects of global tourism. In addition to preserving rural, natural, and fragile ecosystems from detrimental tourism activities, our cities also need protection from the consequences of unregulated tourism. In this paper, I explore the topic of ecotourism and provide examples of how its foundational principles can be applied to the urban environment.
