Abstract

This paper explores the differences and similarities between feminist discourses in Latin America and feminist discourses in the U.S. and Western world more broadly, and the impact those discourses have on U.S.-based gender development efforts in Latin America. Finding a disconnect between Latin American feminist priorities and values and those of U.S. feminism and U.S. development entities, the author proposes a guide to improving gender development in Latin America for U.S.-based development actors.
