Abstract
Excerpt.
There is much good that could come when President Obama visits Hiroshima as the first sitting president to do so.
Public discourse about the visit has typically been misguided, media and pundits focusing on whether the U.S. should apologize or rethink the original decision to drop the bomb. The issue ultimately is not a U.S. apology. As for the original decision, the past is the past.
